136 1/72 Kawanishi N1K2J Shidenkai George Fighter
Representing one of the most formidable land-based fighters fielded by the Imperial Japanese Navy, the Kawanishi N1K2-J Shidenkai—codenamed “George” by Allied forces—was a refined evolution of the earlier N1K1 floatplane-derived design, reengineered into a low-wing interceptor capable of meeting late-war Allied aircraft on more equal terms. Entering service in 1944, it combined excellent maneuverability with heavy armament of four 20mm cannons, and was notably flown by elite units such as the 343rd Kokutai under Minoru Genda, where it proved a serious threat even to advanced fighters like the F6F Hellcat and F4U Corsair.
